The Hidari Wars
Named after the wolves that they ride into war the Okami clan is revered for extremely superior cavalry. The original head of the household was Okami Shingen (originally Hidari Shingen). He renamed himself after the war between himself and his brothers became confusing. He decided on the name “Okami” since not only would it make him seem more godlike, but it would also connect him to his favorite mount in combat, the dire battle wolf.
Shingen was the last of the three Hidari brothers to pass away. Unfortunately for the Yami clan all of the assassins they sent after Shingen were slaughtered. Even with the various victories throughout the land that allowed the clan to prosper Okami Shingen still fell victim to death. Luckily he died when he was sixty four years old so no one could claim he didn’t live a long and prosperous life. His second eldest son, Okami Muramasa, was named Daimyo of the Okami clan since the eldest son was slain in combat before Shingen had died. Muramasa hasn’t had much of a chance to prove himself, and he has only been a daimyo for as long as his cousin Yami Hinata. It outrages him that one of his main competitors is a woman, but he bides his time to siege the lower half of Zobutara until he can slay the two opposing clans north of the Okami Clan’s boarders.
